Crossing Georgian Bay…in winter!

Published On March 17, 2015 | By Julie B | Afternoons

Not for the faint of heart, and not for the average person…no matter how MUCH you love the outdoors in winter!

The two men involved are Zane Davies of Explorer’s Tread, an outdoor adventure company, and Scott Parent of Fathom Paddle Guiding, both on the Bruce Peninsula.  So it’s safe to say, they know what the heck they’re doing!

Zane’s wife Muffy says, “It is believed that it is the first time two people have crossed in history. It took them three days and over 80Kms. They spent a couple of weeks beforehand preparing for the crossing, they used standup paddleboards as insulated flotation devices which they pulled behind them. Only once did one fall through, but they were wearing dry suits and had PFTs on and it wasn’t much of an issue.”

Quite the adventure!
