The giving of a beautiful heart…

I was going to post a video last week in support of organ donation. April is organ donation awareness month but I will always talk it up if given the chance….so go to beadonor.ca and sign up.  Please.  It’s a final gift you can give so that others may get to live a full and healthy life.
So, back to the video…
I just didn’t quite get around to it, so I had planned to do that today and you will find the link below, but in the meantime, a former radio colleague passed away suddenly over the weekend.  Many of you may remember the name Rich Griffin on these airwaves, the old FM102.  He leaves his wife Nancy who worked in our newsroom and a 5-year-old daughter.  He leaves them — and so many others who were fortunate to know him — with wonderful memories of the kind person he was.  But he also leaves the opportunity for 7 other people to live a full life through the donation of his organs.  In fact, today his heart was given to someone in need.  And those who knew him, know that he had a pretty great heart.
His wife Nancy wrote on her Facebook page that “The man we all know and love is really already gone, but please be with me in spirit as I say goodbye to his precious heartbeat this afternoon.”
I urge you to feel your own heartbeat right now, and sign up at be a donor.ca. Maybe yours can save a life someday too.
And here is another take on organ donation to tug at the heartstrings of animal lovers
