WWE Superstar Dusty ‘the American Dream’ Rhodes Dead at 69

The American Dream” DUSTY RHODES . . . one of the best to ever lace up a pair of pro wrestling boots . . . died yesterday at the age of 69. Sources say he’d been hospitalized since Wednesday morning after a fall. And for the last ten years, he worked behind the scenes at WWE, and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2007. Two of his sons, Dustin and Cody Rhodes, compete in the WWE as Goldust and Stardust. When he was in his prime, he played up his blue collar roots, and talked about being the son of a plumber. It was probably that, and the fact he was overweight, that helped fans identify with him.
