Jackie Collins, best-selling author, dies at 77
Writer JACKIE COLLINS died on Saturday. She was 77. Her family says the cause was breast cancer. She was diagnosed in 2007 . . . but kept it private, and really only told her three daughters.
She published more than 30 books since her debut in 1968. Most of them were raunchy romance novels. But she sold more than 500 million copies, making her one of the best-selling authors of the 20th century.
Her older sister, actress JOAN COLLINS, said, quote, “She was my best friend. I admire how she handled this. She was a wonderful, brave and a beautiful person and I love her.”
In the late ’70s, Joan starred in two very sexy movies based on Jackie’s books, “The [B-word]” and “The Stud”.
SANDRA BULLOCK and SUZANNE SOMERS also starred in movies based on Jackie’s work. Sandra said, quote, “That smart, talented, and gorgeous woman paved the road for so many of us . . .
“So that we could experience a much smoother journey, with or without heels . . . Heaven, watch out!” And Suzanne said, quote, “When my home burned down . . . she gave me one of her beautiful necklaces. What woman does that?”
