Kobe Bryant will be the FIRST in team history to have TWO numbers retired by the Lakers in December! In order to honour the fact that Bryant is one of the greatest basketball players of all time, they have chosen to retiring BOTH his numbers- Bryant wore #8 when he won three back to back championships in 2000-2002, and #24 which he most recently wore when he won two more back to back championships in 2009-2010.

It has always been one of Kobe’s dreams to have his number retired, let alone TWO. He said “The Lakers have bestowed a huge honor on me and I’m grateful for the fans’ enthusiasm around this game.”

We'll honor @kobebryant’s illustrious Lakers career by retiring his #8 & #24 during a halftime ceremony on December 18th!!
