Ryan Gosling Visits Toronto Shop After Its Cut Out Campaign Goes Viral
It doesn’t get more IRL than this. Toronto’s Grinder Coffee were so set on getting Ryan Gosling to visit their cafe during the Toronto International Film Festival that they spent 10 days campaigning for it on social media.
Grinder’s Twitter account posted shots of a faux-Gosling enjoying coffee at the café and touring other Toronto hot spots. Each tweet also included info on why he should visit Grinder.
“Looks like our man is in town and ready for some coffee. Just to let you know #ryangosling we pay for half your Uber ride,” Grinder Coffee tweeted as Gosling attended the red carpet premiere of First Man at TIFF.
Gosling got wind of the campaign and showed up in the flesh the next day, even posing for a photo with owner Joelle Murray. She told reporters that Gosling’s mother had encouraged him to stop by.

And this happened… It worked!! Our #ryanneedsgrinder actually worked. The man himself #ryangosling showed up here and had a coffee with us. What a good sport (you can only imagine what Joelle actually said). Thanks for everyones support . A big thanks at Ryan for taking the time out of #tiff to visit #leslieville. What a gracious well brought up Canadian boy. Take that @idriselba your loss!!
Last year, Grinder tried to get Idris Elba to stop by, to no avail … which in a tweet following Gosling’s visit, Murray was quick to drag Elba for.
