NBC has now cancelled “Megyn Kelly Today”  after making controversial comments about blackface and Halloween costumes during an episode of her morning show at the top of the week.

Daytime television was turned on its head when Kelly during a discussion on about controversial Halloween costumes, she appeared to defend the use of “blackface” in the context of dressing up as a character.

“You do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface on Halloween, or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween. Like, when I was a kid, that was OK, as long as you were dressing up as like a character,” she said on Tuesday.

The backlash was swift. Despite a tearful on-air apology the following day, Kelly’s show shifted into unplanned reruns for the rest of the week. Then the official word from NBC arrived on Friday:

“‘Megyn Kelly Today’ is not returning,” according to an NBC statement. “Next week, the 9 a.m. hour will be hosted by other TODAY co-anchors.

Meanwhile, an attorney for Megyn Kelly indicated the anchor and the network remained in negotiations about her future. Kelly “remains an employee of NBC News,”said Bryan Freedman, the lawyer, “and discussions about next steps are continuing.”

People cant stop talking about this story. The conversation continues with no end in sight, and is packed with supporters who think the host is being treated unfairly. And many who agree with the decision.
