Ariana Grande named Billboard’s Woman of The Year 2018!
Congratulations to Ariana Grande! She has been named Billboard‘s ‘Woman of the Year’ 2018! So far this year, Ari has released an amazing album, Sweetener, gone through a LOT including the death of a former lover, and a breakup with a current lover… and channeled all of her emotions into ANOTHER new album. Not to mention, she endured the bombing terrorist attack at her Manchester show in 2017 which left her with severe anxiety on top of it all. Not only did she organize the One Love Manchester Benefit concert, which raised over $23 MILLION to help the victims and their families of the bombing, but she has also become a major advocate for mental health awareness.
To say she deserves and has earned this honour is an understatement. She will be presented this award on December 6th in New York at the Billboard Women in Music Dinner and Awards Gala.
Ross Scarano, Billboard’s VP of content said, “Ariana Grande is a star on her own terms, never bending to any particular musical trend or path in the industry. Certain in her convictions, she consistently stands up for herself and her decisions in a world that often isn’t hospitable to that sort of strength in young women. She’s got guts, she’s making some of the best music of her career, and she’s absolutely deserving of Woman of the Year.”
Earlier in 2018, Ariana played a role in the arch for Our Lives’ in support of gun control, she is also an advocate for gender equality, LGBTQ rights and Black Lives Matter to name just a few.
In 2014, Ariana was named ‘Rising Star’ at the Billboard Woman in Music Awards Gala. Ari joins other strong women with this award including Selena Gomez (who won last year’s award), Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Katy Perry, Pink and many more!
