Celebrity Status – Oscars And More!
For Monday, March 28th:
Oscars biggest moment last night had nothing to do with who won which award. Will Smith DID win for best actor for King Richard, but he also smacked Chris Rock for mentioning his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith in a GI Jane joke. Let’s just say It didn’t look planned.
You can see the clip on our page….CODA won for best picture and best supporting actor for veteran actor Troy Kotsur, becoming only the second deaf actor ever to win an Academy Award. Best directing went to Jane Campion for Power of the Dog.
Other winners included Ariana DeBose, best-supporting actress for West Side Story... Jessica Chastain took home the best actress award for The Eyes of Tammy Faye... and Best animated feature went to Encanto.
Dune won trophies for six of its 10 nominations. No Time To Die took home Best original song for Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell. There was also a silent tribute to Ukraine with an on-screen message asking for support.
Elsewhere, in another show of support, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively donated half a million dollars to Water First, a Canadian Indigenous clean drinking water initiative.
Tayler Hawkins, drummer for Foo Fighters was found deceased in his hotel room in Colombia on Friday. No official cause of death has been given but a preliminary report from the Attorney General’s Office of Colombia reports there were several substances in his body at the time of death. Tayler Hawkins was 50.
Just days after she announced her plans to quit music in a series of tweets, Doja Cat took to Twitter on Saturday to issue an apology to her fans. We’ll assume this means she is still planning to perform.
