Celebrity Status – Box Office, Grammy Winners And More!
For Monday, April 4th:
The Grammy’s were handed out last night. Multi-genre artist Jon Batiste won album of the year for We Are, an album inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement…and Silk Sonic took song of the year and record of the year for “Leave the Door Open.”
Best new artist and best pop album went to Olivia Rodrigo, Doja Cat and SZA won best pop duo and The Foo Fighters won three awards in the rock category. And on a more serious note there was a video message from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, appealing for support of Ukraine.
At the box office, Jared Leto’s ‘Morbius’ was the No. 1 movie over the weekend. It debuted with $39.1 million. ‘The Lost City’ with Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum was in second place, with $14.8 million and ‘The Batman’ came in third.
Mrs. Costanza has passed away. Actress Estelle Harris who played George’s mom on Seinfeld died on Saturday from natural causes at the age of 93. Younger audiences would recognize her as the voice of Mrs. Potato Head in the ‘Toy Story’ movies.
…and Netflix has reportedly backed away from Will Smith’s latest project called ‘Fast and Loose’, although it could go ahead with another actor…and work on ‘Bad Boys 4’ has been paused by Sony.
