Mornings

For Friday, January 6th:

The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, has been named the 2022 recipient of the Canadian Music Week Allan Slaight Humanitarian Spirit Award in recognition of his longstanding commitment to charitable initiatives. Over the past few years, The Weeknd has donated over $8.3 million to numerous causes.

Prince Harry‘s book ‘Spare’ comes out next week, and while there were no advanced copies for reviewers, somehow a bunch of tidbits have leaked. Things like William physically attacking Harry, and that both he and William “begged” their father not to marry Camilla. He also says he wishes that he never watched Meghan’s more intimate scenes in Suits. The memoir comes out on Tuesday.

Movies being released today in theatres: ‘Women Talking’ starring Claire Foy, Rooney Mara and Frances McDormand as women in an isolated religious colony whose faith is tested. And ‘M3GAN’ is a lifelike doll that’s programmed to be a child’s greatest companion…until it isn’t.

‘The Pale Blue Eye’ is new on Netflix, starring Christian Bale, Harry Melling, and Gillian Anderson… and in ‘She Said’ coming to Peacock today, Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan play the New York Times journalists that exposed the sexual abuse allegations against Harvey Weinstein.

RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15 premieres tonight. It has moved to MTV and Ariana Grande is a guest judge for the two episode premiere.

Shania Twain‘s new album is out next month, called Queen of Me. The video for Giddy Up is out now and on our website.

And just FYI, Sarah Michelle Gellar is uninterested in a Buffy reboot.
