Celebrity Status – Princes And Barbie And Muppets, Oh My!

It was a tough week for singing competition shows. Kaya Stewart, daughter of The Eurythmics Dave Stewart left American Idol due to illness…just one day after a different contender, Sara Beth Liebe, left the show to return home to be with her kids. And on The Voice, contestant Alex Whalen left the competition for ‘personal reasons.’
In theatres today, Ben Affleck directs and stars in the movie ‘Air’, about Nike basketball expert Sonny Vaccaro — played by Matt Damon — who pushed the company to design a shoe around the NBA‘s then-rookie Michael Jordan. It also stars Viola Davis, Jason Bateman, and others… and speaking of Ben and Matt, in the new Dunkin’ Donuts commercial, Ben Affleck gets mistaken for Matt Damon.
The first trailer for the highly anticipated live-action ‘Barbie’ movie has been released, featuring Margot Robbie in the title role and Ryan Gosling as Ken. That hits theaters on July 21… And the second trailer for ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ is out. Look for that one in theatres June 2nd
Disney has revealed a quick teaser trailer for the next new Muppets series, this one titled The Muppets Mayhem, streaming on Disney+ starting May 10th.
Harry Styles revealed that he declined the opportunity to play Prince Eric in Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ remake. He says he prefers to act in darker films and non-musicals.
In other headlines, Prince Harry reportedly tried to visit his dad while in the U.K. for his trial, but apparently the King was “too busy.”
