Celebrity Status – Box Office, Ed’s Shawn Surprise, TUDUM, And Mrs. Costner
For Monday, June 19th:
DC and Warner Bros. long-awaited superhero movie “The Flash” opened to $55 million in its first three days, enough for top spot but short of expectations. The new Pixar family film “Elemental” came in second with $29.5 million, a new low for a Pixar opening weekend… and ‘Spider Man Across the Spider-verse’ was third.
After cancelling his Wonder World Tour last summer to prioritize his mental health, it was nice to see Shawn Mendes back for a bit of a performance. And lucky fans at Ed Sheeran‘s Toronto show on Saturday night were the beneficiaries of his surprise appearance. Shawn has a new single too, called “What The Hell Are We Dying For.”
Netflix had its big TUDUM event over the weekend and some highlights include: Emily in Paris Season 4 will take fans — and Emily — on a Roman holiday… Penn Badgley gave a sneak peak at YOU Season 5.. and there was also a sneak peek at how the new competition series, ‘Squid Game: The Challenge’ is becoming reality.
Meanwhile the second seasons of Squid Game and Wednesday are coming soon! Both shows will see new cast members… and the fifth and final season of Stranger Things is getting a new cast member too. Linda Hamilton once took on ‘The Terminator’… so why not the creatures of the Upside Down? Details on her role are being kept under wraps for the moment.
