At the movies, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie is finally here in all its pink perfection! Margot Robbie is Barbie, who starts to have an existential identity crisis, wondering who she really is. Ryan Gosling (and Simu Liu and Scott Evans, and more) play Ken. Alternate versions of Barbie are played by Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon and others. And the Barbie soundtrack drops today too, with tracks from Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Billie Eilish and others.
In Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ — the other big opening this weekend — Cillian Murphy stars as Oppenheimer, aka the father of the atomic bomb. The movie also stars Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., and lots of stars make cameos. Also in theaters, Zach Galifianakis and Elizabeth Banks star in ‘The Beanie Bubble’, about the rise and fall of Beanie Babies.
Jamie Foxx has a new project in the works… he’s working on a campaign and will star in commercials for BetMGM, the MGM Resorts-connected sports betting company.
Discovery Channel has landed the perfect host this year for “Shark Week,” and he’s a huge fan of all ocean creatures — he’s none other than Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa! Shark Week starts Sunday.
In other headlines… following news of her split from husband Dalton Gomez, Ariana Grande is reportedly dating her Wicked costar Ethan Slater, who is also recently separated.
