SILO PAUSES SEASON 2 _ Apple TV+’s Silo was able to dodge the WGA strike, but the SAG-AFTRA work stoppage has brought filming on Season 2 to a halt. Silo tells the story of the last 10,000 people on Earth, who mysteriously reside in a mile-deep home that protects them from the world outside.
… With all Season 2 scripts completed ahead of the WGA strike, Silo began filming last month in London. But a planned break in filming is now expected to be indefinite, amid the SAG-AFTRA strike that kicked off July 13.
AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 22 _ Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Ryan Seacrest will all be returning for the 22nd season of American Idol, which is set to premiere in spring 2024. The judges have been part of the show since its revival in 2018, with Seacrest having been the host since the original show’s creation in 2002.
… Auditions for season 22 will begin in August, with the live virtual audition tour Idol Across America taking place in all 50 states plus Washington D.C.
SNOOP DOGG CANCELS HOLLYWOOD BOWL CONCERTS IN SOLIDARITY WITH STRIKES _ Snoop Dogg has canceled his Doggystyle 30th anniversary concerts at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in solidarity with the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. The concerts were originally scheduled for June 27 and June 28, but were postponed due to the strikes.
… While the strikes do not affect Snoop Dogg’s Hollywood Bowl shows, he decided to cancel them as a show of support for the striking writers and actors.
AMERICA FERRERA’S UGLY BETTY RETURNS TO NETFLIX IN AUGUST _ The ABC series Ugly Betty, starring America Ferrera, will be available to stream on Netflix starting August 1. The show follows the story of Betty Suarez, a young woman from Queens who lands a job at a fashion magazine, despite not fitting the typical mold of a fashionista.
… The show originally aired from 2006 to 2010 and won two Golden Globes and three Primetime Emmy Awards.
JOSH HUTCHERSON AND MORGAN FREEMAN LEAD TIME TRAVEL MOVIE _ A trailer for the sci-fi thriller 57 Seconds has been released, starring Josh Hutcherson and Morgan Freeman. The video features Hutcherson’s Franklin as he suddenly obtains a time-traveling ring that allows him to travel 57-seconds into the past. He uses the game-changing gadget to take revenge against the pharmaceutical company, whose drug led to his twin sister’s death. • VIDEO

GOLDA TRAILER PREVIEWS HELEN MIRREN AS FIRST FEMALE ISRAELI PRIME MINISTER _ The first Golda trailer is here, previewing legendary actress Helen Mirren in the role of Golda Meir, the first female Israeli Prime Minister. The film will take place during the 19 days of the Yom Kippur War in 1973 as Meir is left to make many decisions in order to try and keep Israel from collapsing. • VIDEO
