Celebrity Status – Lawsuits, Britney, And Hallmark Movies… Theeeey’re Baaa-aaack!
For Friday, September 22nd:
Sophie Turner is suing estranged husband Joe Jonas to allow their two daughters to go with her to England, after he refused to give her the children’s passports. It’s been almost three weeks since Joe filed for divorce from Sophie, who said in the current petition that she only learned of the divorce filing through media reports. This definitely will get messier before it’s over.
In other litigation… George R.R. Martin, Jodi Picoult , John Grisham and other authors are suing Chat GPT-maker Open AI for copyright infringement, calling it “systematic theft on a mass scale.” (I mean, it’s not nearly as scary as a M3GAN doll…but clearly another example of how AI can be used for evil…duhn, duhn, duhnnn!)
At the movies this weekend is ‘Dumb Money’ about a bunch of regular people who got rich by turning GameStop into one of the world’s hottest companies. It stars Seth Rogan, Shailene Woodley, Pete Davidson, America Ferrera and more.
Also in theaters this weekend, ‘Expendables 4’ …once again saving the world, with a little help from Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham and Megan Fox… also, the supernatural horror flick ‘It Lives Inside’… and look for ‘Spy Kids: Armageddon’ on Netflix.
And the Hallmark Channel has made its list and checked it twice… and it’s officially set to debut *42* new Christmas movies that will premiere this year, starting October 20th (and a couple of them even star people you might have heard of!)
The Britney Spears movie ‘Crossroads’ is returning to theaters for two nights surrounding the release of her upcoming memoir, which comes out October 24th. (Fun Fact: Crossroads was written by Shonda Rhimes before most of us knew who she was! It also stars, Kim Cattrall and Dan Aykroyd.)
