Celebrity Status – Box Office, Beyoncé, And A Celeb DUI

The weekend box office saw no new movie take the top spot over the long U.S. Thanksgiving weekend. ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ held strong in its second week of release, earning $42 million since Wednesday. Ridley Scott’s Napoleon, starring Joaquin Phoenix, did better than expected, taking in $32.5 million. And Disney’s ‘Wish’ was the turkey, doing worse than expected, grossing just $31.7 million for third place.
ICYMI, Simu Liu revealed last week that he co-wrote a new song with Joe Jonas, and says he “collaborated with some incredibly talented artists” for his debut EP, Anxious-Avoidant. It may not come as a surprise to some, as he sang a medley of Avril Lavigne’s greatest hits while hosting the Junos this year.
Tiffany Haddish was arrested on suspicion of DUI and has since been released. She allegedly fell asleep at the wheel early Friday morning. And it’s not her first rodeo… she is scheduled to go to trial next week for a prior DUI charge from January 2022.
Netflix has emerged as the winner in a bidding war for a new Kim Kardashian show. It’s called ‘The Fifth Wheel’ and it’s described as a comedy. Meanwhile, coming to Netflix today is the Jennifer Garner/Ed Helms Freaky Friday-inspired Christmas comedy ‘Family Switch’.
Lots of stars came out to the premiere of Beyoncé’s Renaissance Concert film in L.A., including the original members of Destiny’s Child… and Beyoncé has new hair! It was pin-straight and platinum blonde for her big night.
