Celebrity Status – Wonka’s A Winner, Mayim Is Out And Demi Gets A Diamond!
For Monday, December 18th:
It was a deliciously sweet opening weekend for “Wonka” at the North American box office, with Timothée Chalamet helping to secure the Golden ticket and $39 million in ticket sales. “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” again ranked second in its fifth week of release. The Japanese anime film “The Boy and the Heron” was third.
Billie Eilish paid tribute to the women of Saturday Night Live past and present with a video montage during her first performance on Saturday’s show. She performed ‘What Was I Made For’ from the Barbie movie soundtrack and was introduced by host, former SNL-er and Weird Barbie herself Kate McKinnon, alongside Barbie director Greta Gerwig.
ICYMI: On Friday, Mayim Bialik posted that she won’t be hosting “Jeopardy!” anymore, saying “Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!” Apparently Sony made the decision to have just one host to maintain continuity for viewers.
Also, a reality show about the life and family of Sean “Diddy” Combs has been scrapped following multiple allegations of sexual abuse against him. Diddy denies wrongdoing.
Larry David’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” will end after 12 seasons. The final season is set to premiere in February.
And never mind Christmas bells… cue the wedding bells! Demi Lovato and musician Jordan “Jutes” Lutes are officially engaged.
