Celebrity Status – Box Office, Critics Choice Awards, Romance Rumours
For Monday, January 15th:
Twenty years after the original Tina Fey movie, the “Mean Girls” movie musical earned $28 million in its first three days in theaters. That’s so fetch, right? “The Beekeeper” with Jason Statham and Josh Hutcherson debuted in second place with an estimated $16.8 million… and “Wonka” took third place with more than 8 million. Those totals are expected to rise after today’s Martin Luther King Jr. holiday south of the border.
It’s awards season… and Oppenheimer, Barbie, and The Bear cleaned up at the Critics Choice Awards on the weekend. Chelsea Handler returned as host and Oppenheimer led all film nominees with eight wins, including Best Picture, Best Director and best supporting actor for Robert Downey Jr.. Barbie won six awards including Best Comedy. On the TV side, Succession, The Bear, and Beef were the big winners.
Meanwhile, on the red carpet Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon offered Pedro Pascal a role on ‘The Morning Show’, as if he isn’t busy enough. But he did say he would make himself available, so it could happen.
Over the weekend, Tom Holland told paparazzi “Absolutely not,” when asked about the rumours that he and Zendaya have split. Meanwhile, Zendaya was spotted out in LA with Tom’s brother Austin on the same day… which is not an invitation to start THAT rumour.
And ICYMI… Dua Lipa was recently spotted kissing British actor Callum Turner at his Masters of Air premiere after-party… “It’s new, but but they’re mad about each other,” a source told Page Six
