Mornings

For Thursday, January 11th:

This year the SAG Awards are streaming on Netflix on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 8 p.m. Some of the nominees include Bradley Cooper as Leonard Bernstein, Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer, Margot Robbie as Barbie, Lily Gladstone in Killers of the Flower Moon and Emma Stone for Poor Things along with Robert De Niro, Robert Downey Jr., Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, and Jodie Foster.

On the TV side, nominees include Jennifer Aniston for The Morning Show, Elizabeth Debicki for The Crown, Bella Ramsey in The Last of Us and Jason Sudeikis and Hannah Waddingham for Ted Lasso. Barbra Streisand will receive the SAG Life Achievement Award

Selena Gomez will portray Linda Ronstadt in an upcoming biopic. According to Rolling Stone the movie is still in preproduction, but Ronstadt’s manager, John Boylan, is on board along with James Keach, who is also producing a biopic of Glen Campbell starring Tim McGraw.

Baby Yoda is getting a movie! Jon Favreau is set to direct “The Mandalorian & Grogu”. There’s no release date and no details about casting yet, but Pedro Pascal has played The Mandalorian for three seasons on the small screen, so fingers crossed!

Netflix has released a trailer for the sci-fi drama series 3 Body Problem, which is based on the bestselling books of the same name and is created by the duo who gave us Game of Thrones. The quick synopsis?… alien invasion.

Elsewhere, the prequel to Seth MacFarlane’s movie TED is set in the 90s and is coming to Peacock today as a series.

And Prince’s iconic 1984 film Purple Rain will be adapted into a musical for Broadway (do jazz hands here if you’re so inclined.)
