Mornings

For Monday, March 25th:

At the Juno awards last night in Halifax, Nelly Furtado did double duty as performer and host, and some winners included Talk for breakthrough artist of the year and Charlotte Cardin for best album and pop album of the year. Teegan and Sara were given the Humanitarian Award, and Maestro Fresh Wes was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

And Nova Scotia native Anne Murray surprised viewers with a hearty East Coast welcome to kick off the show, and presented Toronto band ‘The Beaches’ with the group of the year prize. They also picked up Rock Group of the Year

At the box office, it was no surprise: ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ took the number one spot with $45.2 million with another $16.5 million globally. ‘Dune: Part 2’ took in more than $17 million for second place, and the only other new wide release was ‘Immaculate,’ starring Sydney Sweeney as a nun… it was good enough for fourth.

ICYMI last week, TV and radio host Marilyn Denis will be among the recipients of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television’s Special Awards, given out during Canadian Screen Week, this May. Hers is a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The finale of The Bachelor is on tonight, and according to popular opinion, Joey will likely be choosing between Kelsey and Daisy… but don’t take our word for it. Tune in for the 3-hour marathon at 8pm

And Cameron Diaz and her musician husband, Benji Madden, announced on Instagram Friday that they’ve welcomed a baby boy named Cardinal.
