QUEEN’S MUSIC CATALOG SOLD FOR OVER $1 BILLION _ In a jaw-dropping deal, Sony Music has acquired the rights to Queen’s music catalog for a whopping $1.27 billion. This acquisition includes Queen’s royalties for recorded music rights in the United States and Canada, as well as a distribution deal outside those regions. The deal excludes revenue from live performances, as founding members Brian May and Roger Taylor will retain that portion.

… After a lengthy negotiation process, Sony Music emerged victorious over a mystery bidder who wouldn’t go beyond $900 million. The transaction more than double what Sony paid for Bruce Springsteen’s catalog in 2021.
