Celebrity Status – Apologies, Adele, Ryan, And A Rescue
For Wednesday, July 17th:
Singer Ingrid Andress has apologized and says she was drunk during her anthem performance at the MLB Home Run Derby on Monday night, saying on Instagram “I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition.”
Referring to a comment about the Trump shooting, made by his Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Glass, Jack Black said in a statement to Instagram yesterday that he was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday and would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form. As a result he has decided to cancel the rest of their tour. Gass has also apologized.
Adele wrapped up her Las Vegas residency last month, and after her forthcoming 10-performance residency in Munich, Germany, next month she says she has no plans for new music at all. She did say that she may want to do “other creative things… for a little while.” No word on what those may be.
Part 1 of the new docuseries ‘Simone Biles: Rising’ comes to Netflix today. It follows Biles’ return to the 2024 Olympics in Paris after she dropped out of the 2020 Tokyo games to take a mental health break. And the new season of Big Brother premieres today too.
In other headlines, Ryan Seacrest celebrated his first day as the host of Wheel of Fortune yesterday, posting some pics of him on set with the real star of the show, the big wheel.
And Dave Portnoy, the Barstool Sports/pizza review guy, had to be rescued by the coast guard after he lost control of his boat off Nantucket. Heavy winds caused him to drift out to sea, and his engine was dead. (One boat, everybody knows the rules… wear your life jackets.)
