Celebrity Status – Box Office, SAG Awards, And Hockey For A Cause
For Monday, February 24th:
Justin Bieber and Steve Carell laced up their skates along with Hockey Hall of Famers like Mark Messier and Jeremy Roenick on Sunday afternoon to support relief funds for those affected by the Los Angeles fires. Vince Vaughn and Cobie Smulders were the coaches of the winning team in the four-team tourney, and Bieber and Roenick even dropped the gloves just for fun
Last night on Netflix, Kristen Bell hosted the Screen Actors Guild Awards. ‘Conclave’ won for ensemble cast, beating ‘Wicked’… and the top four acting awards went to Demi Moore for The Substance, Timothée Chalamet in A Complete Unknown and in the supporting categories, Zoe Saldaña and Kieran Culkin took home the hardware.
On the television side, Colin Farrell won for The Penguin, Jean Smart won for Hacks, and the cast of ‘Only Murders in the Building’ won in the ensemble category, plus supporting actor for Martin Short. But it was Shogun that won the most awards on the TV side… and Jane Fonda joined SAG’s prestigious list of Life Achievement honorees.
At the box office, “Captain America: Brave New World” remained No. 1 at the box office in its second weekend but with only $28.2 million in ticket sales this time. The biggest new release of the weekend was “The Monkey,” based on a Stephen King short story… taking in just over $14 million.
And a ship, a speakeasy and a mountain lion… oh my! Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren were back last night to circle the wagons in the season 2 premiere of the Yellowstone prequel ‘1923’.
