Mornings

For Friday, May 23rd:

Dolly Parton is making a trip to England this fall and says she may even be having tea with Queen Camilla, who has founded The Queen’s Reading Room, a literary charity and book club similar to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. In the meantime, Dolly has hinted she might guest star on Meghan Markle’s show.

Dolly’s goddaughter, Miley Cyrus, has explained that her raspy voice is actually from a medical condition called Reinke’s edema, which affects her vocal chords, and is the reason she doesn’t tour much. And she doesn’t want to fix it either. Her ninth studio album, Something Beautiful, will be released May 30. It will be accompanied by a movie of the same name.

At the movies, nearly 30 years after the first installment of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt is back to see it through to the ”Final Reckoning.” While this franchise may be coming to an end, he recently said he is going to keep making movies until he’s 100. Maybe he won’t be hanging off the plane at that point but you never know!

Disney’s “Lilo & Stitch” comes to theatres with a live-action remake. Zach Galifianakis is one of the alien characters, and some of the original voice actors make cameos.

On the smaller screen, John Krasinski and Natalie Portman star in “Fountain of Youth” on Prime Video.
ICYMI this week: Streaming now on Netflix, ‘Sirens’, starring Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy and Kevin Bacon, and Tyler Perry’s new political series ‘She the People’
Nicole Kidman‘s season 2 of ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’ dropped two episodes on Disney+…
And ‘The Last of Us’ season finale comes to HBO / Max on Sunday.

Scarlett Johansson received a 5-minute standing ovation for her directorial debut at Cannes this week, with her husband and biggest fan, Colin Jost of SNL by her side. “Eleanor the Great” is set to hit theaters in the fall.
