Celebrity Status – Box Office, Home Runs And Elmo On X
For Monday, July 14th:
At the box office, James Gunn’s “Superman” launched with $122 million in North America over the weekend and another $95 million overseas. “Jurassic World Rebirth,” slid to second place with $40 million. In just ten days, it’s amassed $529.5 million worldwide. And “F1”, starring Brad Pitt, came in third.
The 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s “Jaws” was a big draw at SharkCon over the weekend, but one of the stars of the movie, Richard Dreyfuss, had to cancel his appearance due to a bout with viral bronchitis. The National Geographic-sponsored event gathers marine biologists, shark enthusiasts and others dedicated to raising awareness about shark and ocean conservation.
And Elmo‘s social media was hacked. The X account belonging to Elmo appeared to be hacked on Sunday, for about an hour in which a string of very un-Elmo-like things were posted. By Sunday evening Elmo was back to his lovely self, posting about his dog Tango.
