Celebrity Status – Emmy Nominees And Ariana’s Next Musical
For Wednesday, July 16th:
The Emmy nominees were announced yesterday and Seth Rogen’s TV series ‘The Studio’ leads the comedy category with 23 Emmy Award nominations, including best directing and writing for him and his writing partner Evan Goldberg, best comedy actor for Rogen, as well as best supporting actress for Catherine O’Hara. She also earned a nomination for best supporting guest actress in a drama for her role on ‘The Last of Us’. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey also picked up nods for lead actor awards, and the most nominated drama is Apple TV’s ‘Severance’ with 27 nods.
Ariana Grande‘s next musical will be a Seussical. She is reuniting with ‘Wicked’ director Jon M. Chu on a new Dr. Seuss movie, lending her voice to an animated adaptation of “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” But don’t get too excited just yet… this one won’t be in theatres until 2028! The second part of Wicked will hit theatres this November.
Chu has a long list of upcoming projects including a Britney Spears biopic, a Jesus Christ Superstar adaptation, a Play-Doh animated movie, a musical adaptation of Crazy Rich Asians on Broadway and an adaptation of the video game Split Fiction starring Sydney Sweeney. Meanwhile, Sydney Sweeney is reportedly in the running to play the next Bond girl in Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming James Bond film.
Season 7 of Virgin River is currently in production, and Netflix confirmed this week that the show is getting a season 8, making it the longest-running series on Netflix, surpassing the 7 seasons of Grace and Frankie and Orange is the New Black.
And Hannah Waddingham is thrilled to be coming back to Ted Lasso, saying she looks forward to seeing where her character Rebecca and others have landed. Season 4 will see Ted coaching a women’s soccer team.
