Mornings

For Monday, October 6th:

As expected, Taylor Swift’s ’The Official Release Party of a Show Girl’ topped the box office in its limited engagement earning $33 million in North America. The video for The Fate of Ophelia was released yesterday. Leonardo DiCaprio and the stacked cast of “One Battle After Another” pulled in $11.1 million in its second weekend… and “The Smashing Machine,” with Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, opened lower than expected in third place with a mere $6 million.

On Saturday Night Live, Bad Bunny kicked off season 51 as host of the premiere with surprise appearances by Jon Hamm and KPop Demon Hunters. He also took jabs at those who have criticized him as the choice for the Super Bowl halftime show, saying “You have 4 months to learn’ Spanish.”

Britney Spears injured her knee recently in a fall down the stairs. Her knee appeared bandaged in a video she shared from her home, but it didn’t stop her from dancing and posing as she likes to do.

Zach Galifianakis, Kumail Nanjiani and Cary Elwes will star in the pilot for Very Young Frankenstein, a comedy based on Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein. Details on the characters they’ll be playing are under wraps for the moment, as are plot specifics.

ICYMI: Stranger Things season five just released a new featurette last week… and more Taylor for the Swifties. She will be on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon tonight to promote The Life of a Showgirl

And the Netflix special “Famous Last Words: Dr. Jane Goodall” is streaming now. It was recorded in March to be released only after her death. She passed away last week at the age of 91.
