Mornings

For Monday, January12th:

Last night, there were beautiful white and silver dresses, men in multi-coloured velvet tuxes, AND we learned that Glen Powell’s Aunt Honey has a pet kangaroo named Trixie… aaaannnd then some awards were handed out at the Golden Globes. Vancouver’s Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg took home Best television series — musical or comedy for The Studio, and Rogen won best actor. Best drama went to The Pitt. Other winners were Rhea Seehorn, Noah Wylie and Amy Poehler, who beat her ex husband Will Arnett for best podcast.

The limited series Adolescence scored several awards too, and on the movie side, Best comedy or musical went to One Battle After Another, Best animated film went to KPop Demon Hunters and Sinners won for Cinematic and box-office achievement. Other winners included Timothée Chalamet, Rose Byrne, and Best original song went to Golden from “KPop Demon Hunters.”

Britney Spears says she’ll never perform in the U.S. again, although she didn’t provide much explanation why. She did say she hopes to be “…sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair, in a bun, performing with my son… in the U.K. and AUSTRALIA very soon.”

Dolly Parton will not be there for her 80th birthday celebrations this weekend at the Grand Ole Opry. While she has been dealing with some health challenges, there was never any plan to attend.

And a federal judge has dismissed Salt-N-Pepa’s lawsuit to reclaim ownership of their master recordings from Universal Music Group, saying the group never owned the copyrights to their sound recordings in the first place.
