Mornings

For Monday, April 20th:

Mike Myers honoured Eddie Murphy in full Shrek makeup at the AFI Life Achievement Award Ceremony, calling him ‘One of the greatest.’ Others paying tribute to Murphy and his career included Martin Lawrence, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Arsenio Hall, Kenan Thompson, Jennifer Hudson, and Spike Lee. Murphy’s AFI tribute will premiere as a special on Netflix on May 31.

‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ was once again shooting for the stars at the weekend box office with $35 million in North America, trouncing the weekend’s big premiere, Lee Cronin’s ‘The Mummy’ which failed to fully resurrect. It earned just $13.5 million, putting it in third. In second place, ‘Project Hail Mary’ is still doing so well they are delaying it’s Prime video streaming debut and leaving it in theatres longer.

Justin Bieber returned to Coachella for weekend 2 as the headliner Saturday night, and continued a longtime tradition of sweetly serenading a fan with his 2009 hit “One Less Lonely Girl.” That fan just happened to be lifelong Belieber Billie Eilish, who teared up as they embraced on stage. Among other guest appearances, SZA joined him on stage to sing her hit “Snooze.”

Louis Tomlinson has unfollowed his former One Direction bandmate Zayn Malik on Instagram.
The social media update comes amid reports of tension between the singers while they were filming their Netflix documentary series.

In other headlines, Cher has filed to place her son, Elijah Blue Allman, under a conservatorship again, saying ‘His drug dependency is at its worst.’
And in happier news, Justin Theroux and wife Nicole Brydon Bloom announced the arrival of their baby boy.
