Mornings

For Tuesday, June 2nd:

It’s a Toy Story…baby just say yes! Taylor Swift wrote ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ for the Toy Story 5 soundtrack after seeing a mini screening months ago. She announced the song yesterday after months of dropping secret “Toy Story”-related hints for her fanbase. And we all know how they love easter egg hunting — even when there aren’t any to find. The song will be released this Friday, with the film itself arriving in theaters on June 19th.

The Gotham Television Awards were handed out last night in Manhattan, sometimes an indicator of winners at the upcoming Emmy Awards in September. Winners included ‘Pluribus’ for Breakthrough Drama Series… Breakthrough Comedy Series was ‘I Love LA’… and ‘DTF St. Louis’ won Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series with David Harbour picking up Outstanding Supporting Performance for his role in the series.

When it comes to Jason Sudeikis and Hannah Waddingham’s relationship, it’s not all biscuits and tea… or duck water, as Ted Lasso calls it. But Waddingham admits that it can be a struggle behind the scenes due to the frequent rewrites from Sudeikis. She says, ” With that boy, you’ve got to roll with the punches.” Season 4 comes to Apple TV August 5th, which will find Ted now coaching Richmond’s women’s team.

Anna Kendrick has been hired to direct “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” for Netflix, based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s best-selling 2017 novel. Two other filmmakers, Maggie Betts and Lesley Headland, were previously attached to the project but departed for unknown reasons. No casting details have been announced.

Comedy legend Mel Brooks is 99 years old, and made a rare recent appearance for The 51st AFI Life Achievement Award: A Tribute to Eddie Murphy. The ceremony was filmed in April and premiered Sunday on Netflix. Mel Brooks received the same life achievement award in 2013.
