Celebrity Status: Jordan Peele, Miichael Jordan, Zorro, And Gwyneth Paltrow
JORDAN PEELE’S FOURTH MOVIE IN THE WORKS _ Jordan Peele won’t have one but two movies coming out in 2024: an untitled horror thriller on September 27 from his Monkeypaw Productions, and another coming out on Christmas Day that year. To be more specific, while the former is from his production company, the latter is being directed by the Oscar winner.
JULIANNE HOUGH REPLACES TYRA BANKS ON DANCING WITH THE STARS _ Julianne Hough will replace Tyra Banks as co-host of Dancing With the Stars for Season 32, joining returning co-host Alfonso Ribeiro and judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough. Hough is a veteran of the show, having won Seasons 4 and 5 as a pro dancer and served as a judge from 2014-2017 and as a guest judge in 2021. She is also an actress, producer, and co-owner of Fresh Vine Wine. The show will return this fall on Disney+.
MICHAEL JORDAN HAD JUST ONE REQUEST OF BEN AFFLECK WHEN IT CAME TO MAKING AIR _ Be Affleck was able to get Michael Jordan’s blessing before filming Air, the story of Nike’s efforts to sign the legendary shooting guard to a sneaker deal before he entered the NBA. At the film’s premiere at South By Southwest, Affleck — who also stars in the film as Nike founder Phil Knight — revealed the lone request that Jordan had of him when it came to making Air: cast Academy Award winner Viola Davis as his mother Deloris Jordan.
… Affleck said: “[Michael] said, ‘None of this would have ever happened without my mother.’ I said, ‘Who would you like to play your mom?’ He said, ‘Well, it has to be Viola Davis.”
… Air comes to theaters April 5 and stars Affleck, Davis, Matt Damon, Jason Bateman, Chris Tucker and Marlon Wayans.
NEW JOHN MULANEY STAND-UP SPECIAL COMING TO NETFLIX IN APRIL _ John Mulaney is headed back to Netflix. The comedian will return to the streamer next month with a brand new stand-up special titled John Mulaney: Baby J. Mulaney has a well-established relationship with Netflix, having headlined two other stand-up specials there.
… This new stand-up special promises to feature material concerning Mulaney’s life, which has undergone a shift over the last few years — he went through a divorce, go sober from his addictions, and had a child with partner Olivia Munn.

DISNEY+ IS REBOOTING CLASSIC WESTERN ZORRO _ The world’s greatest swordsman is returning to the small screen. Zorro, the legend of the masked vigilante who fights corruption in Spanish California, is getting the reboot treatment at Disney+, and the series producer is an Emmy-winning Game of Thrones veteran.
… The new series, starring Wilmer Valderrama (aka Fez from That ’70s Show), is billed as a reboot of Disney’s classic Zorro TV show, which aired from 1957 to 1959.
GWYNETH PALTROW WILL TAKE STAND _ Gwyneth Paltrow will testify in her trial over a ski crash that occurred in 2016, in which she is being sued for a “hit-and-run” incident by Utah resident Terry Sanderson. Sanderson claims Paltrow collided with him while skiing down the mountain at Deer Valley Resort, causing him to suffer a concussion and broken ribs. Paltrow filed a countersuit against Sanderson, accusing him of causing the collision. The trial is set to begin today (Tuesday).
